PRESS RELEASE – SIESsail Invites Communities to Join European Week of Sport Sailing Activities

The SIESsail project partnership is inviting local communities in Slovenia, Italy, Estonia and Serbia to take part in sailing and awareness-raising activities connected with the European Week of Sport happening from 23. – 30. September 2025. The programme will promote physical activity, healthy lifestyles, inclusion and environmental responsibility through accessible opportunities to discover sailing.

Across the partner countries, upcoming activities will include open sailing days, practical introductions to sailing and community engagement designed for beginners, young people, people with fewer opportunities and the general public. The events will show that sailing can be welcoming, adaptable and relevant to people with different levels of experience. The European Week of Sport activities build on the project’s international capacity-building programme.

Through four study visits in Slovenia, Italy, Estonia and Serbia, 32 sailing instructors took part directly in workshops, practical sessions and peer exchange, while trained instructors shared knowledge within their clubs and reached at least 50 additional members. The learning focused on inclusive coaching, safety, environmental responsibility and innovative teaching methods. SIESsail connects five partners from four countries and works to strengthen inclusion, accessibility and sustainability in sailing education. The European Week of Sport offers an opportunity to bring these values directly to local communities and encourage new participants to experience the sport.

Practical information about local events and participation will be published through partner websites (links available below) and social media channels:
